Information on Energy Conservation:
- The Government's Approved Document L (Fuel Conservation) complementing the new energy efficiency regulations, was issued on 31 October 2001. It extends Building Regulations to cover replacement window and door installation from April 2002, when all installers and buyers of replacement windows and doors will be expected to comply with improved energy efficiency requirements. One of the main drivers is the need to reduce heat loss in order to conform to more stringent energy efficiency targets. Glass products will be expected to have lower heat loss, measured by their "U" value. Oakwell only uses Pilkington K low e glass which conforms to the new regulations.
- Our specially coated, low emissivity glass is designed for heat retention, reflecting the heat back into your home to create a warm space. It comes as standard with all our inner window panes.
- Our window frames are designed for conserving heat. Our uPVC windows are multi-chambered for heat retention.
- To create evenly warm space in your home, we leave a 20mm insulating air gap between the two panes in most Oakwell double glazing.
